Scabbard Wood Core

Both halves after chiseling and extensive sanding. Next step is trimming down to size and shaping exterior.

The wood suffered a hairline crack at the top due to the pressure of cutting. It is barely noticeable and small enough to repair with a piece of backing so that the structural integrity should not be compromised.
However, next time I may trim the exterior with a jigsaw first and do some rough shaping before chiseling the interior. The hollowed out core is very thin and I will probably need to file and rasp the shape with the sword inserted to provide the rigidity necessary for clamping.

The wood core is dead. Long live the wood core.
One half the wood core scabbard suffered a fatal crack during shaping. Apparently the sword was too thick and I hallowed the central canal too much.
I'll change the design slightly so that less chiseling but more shaping will be needed.
